Alcatel today announced a slightly improved version of its A3 10 4G Android tablet that was introduced in India last June. The new variant comes sporting 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal memory against the older variant that included 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal memory. Besides providing additional memory, the updated variant also gets new camera sensors with an 8-megapixel camera on the back along with a 5-megapixel one on the front. While all other specifications of the 3GB RAM variant remain to be the same, its price has been bumped to Rs. 11,999 ($179), whereas the 2GB RAM variant was announced at Rs. 9,999 ($149). The 4G-enabled tablet is already up for sale exclusively via Flipkart in Black color along with a bunch of launch offers.
Interested buyers have an option to exchange their used smartphones to avail an extra discount of up to Rs. 11,000 ($164), while an extra Rs. 1,000 ($15) will be waived off for a prepaid transaction. The 2GB RAM variant of the Alcatel A3 10 was also launched in the South Asian country as a Flipkart-exclusive device and can still be purchased from the retailer’s website without the aforementioned offers. Flipkart has also listed an even lower-end Wi-Fi only variant of the tablet which sports 1GB of RAM and is priced at Rs. 6,999 ($104). The 3GB RAM variant of the tablet is expected to be available in more color options soon, that includes White, Blue and White, Grey, as the online retailer has marked them as coming soon.
The Alcatel A3 10 Android tablet features a 10.1-inch IPS LCD display with an HD resolution of 1,280 x 800 pixels. It is powered by a quad-core MediaTek MT8735B SoC clocked at 1.1GHz paired with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of flash memory, which is expandable by up to 128GB. Android 7.0 Nougat comes preinstalled on the tablet that also supports voice calling via its 4G-enabled single SIM card slot. Weighing about 465 grams, the tablet includes a battery of 4,600mAh capacity that is claimed to offer a battery life of 7 hours on mixed usage and 18 hours of talk time. As previously mentioned, the device features an 8-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front camera. A pair of front-facing speakers with Arkamys audio is also a part of the package, while the company has also retained a 3.5mm headphone jack.
