The alleged Meizu 16 has just surfaced in a real-life image, well, not the device itself, but its backplate. If you take a look at the provided image, you will be able to see what we’re talking about, and even though it doesn’t have Meizu’s branding on the back (yet), the source claims this is the Meizu 16. Interestingly enough, that backplate actually resembles the back side of the phone that Meizu patented recently, so it’s possible that this is one of the company’s upcoming smartphones, even the Meizu 16.
As you can see, there are three cutouts on this backplate, the upper two are for the phone’s cameras, while the bottom one is there for a ring flash. This backplate seems to be made out of metal, though it’s extremely shiny, so some people may confuse it for glass. Now, quite recently, Meizu patented a smartphone design, and as already mentioned, the back side of the shared sketch resembles this backplate that just leaked. The front side of that phone actually resembles Samsung’s Galaxy S8 and S9 handsets, which is why it’s possible that this backplate belongs to the Meizu 16. Meizu’s exec had confirmed a while back that the company will introduce its ‘bezel-less’ smartphone in the second half of the year, and the phone that Meizu patented certainly fits the bill. The company had introduced the Meizu 15 Plus flagship quite recently, so it is assumed that the Meizu 16 will be the next flagship device that the company will announce later this year.
The Meizu 16 is expected to be noticeably more powerful than the Meizu 15 Plus, and also sport an even sleeker design. The phone will probably be fueled by either the Snapdragon 845 or the Exynos 9810. The Meizu 16 will sport really thin bezels, and it will ship with Android Oreo out of the box quite probably, with Meizu’s Flyme skin on top of it. It is worth noting that the Meizu X2 name had also been mentioned in the past, and that is, allegedly, another high-end device that the company is working on.
