The BlackBerry KEYtwo has surfaced on GeekBench in two different listings. The listings are largely the same, but the difference here is that one has 4GB of RAM while the other sports 6GB of RAM. Showing that TCL may be looking to release two variants of the KEYtwo this time around, instead of only doing it in different colors, like its predecessor.
The listings on GeekBench do show off some other specs, including a Snapdragon 660 chipset powering the show here. This isn’t surprising, given that the KEYone sported a Snapdragon 625 which helped it achieve the epic battery life it had. Also on-board, is Android 8.1 Oreo. That is the latest version of Android from Google right now (with Android P launching later this year). That also isn’t a surprise, given that BlackBerry is pretty good with updates, and do push out security updates each month and are pretty quick with software updates as well. There are no other specs listed on GeekBench here, so there’s still a lot of mystery to the KEYtwo right now, but those mysteries will be put to rest on June 7 when TCL and BlackBerry Mobile reveal the latest smartphone at an event in New York City.
BlackBerry Mobile and TCL began its relationship last year, releasing the KEYone as the first physical QWERTY keyboard smartphone running Android in quite a while (unless you count the PRIV). It was a pretty popular device for both companies, where BlackBerry Mobile had later announced two new colors – black and copper. TCL has made other devices for BlackBerry in the past year, like the BlackBerry Motion, but the KEYone was still the most popular due to the nostalgia feel here. A smartphone with a full physical QWERTY keyboard, and running a nearly stock version of Android. TCL nor BlackBerry Mobile have released sales number for the KEYone, but it evidently did well enough to warrant a follow up, which will be unveiled fairly soon.
