DISH Anywhere App Comes To Android TV Devices

The DISH Anywhere app has come to Android TV devices enabling DISH customers to take advantage of the app’s many streaming benefits from the comfort of the couch. With DISH Anywhere and Android TV, users will no longer be limited to just watching their favorite TV shows and other video content from their smartphone or tablet displays. Instead, customers who have an Android TV device, such as the NVIDIA SHIELD, or a TV with Android TV built-in, can simply load up the DISH Anywhere app and watch right on the big-screen with little effort.

With a growing range of TVs with Android TV built-in as well as a handful of different Android TV devices it’s easier than ever to watch DISH programming at home. Along with the Android TV support from in-home set-top-boxes and TVs, DISH also notes that its own Android TV box meant for hotels, the EVOLVE set-top-box, has access to the app as well so even if you’re away from home as long as you’re staying in a hotel that has these boxes set up in the room you can still watch any of the shows or movies that DISH Anywhere has to offer.

DISH notes that the application for Android TV is already available for download meaning that anyone with compatible hardware will be able to grab it right now and begin streaming content. The release of the app on Android TV devices and TVs with the technology built-in follows the launch of the app for smartphones and tablets back in 2013, in addition to support for the web, and support for Amazon’s Fire TV platform. The app itself is free to download, and content on the app is free to watch which means you won’t need to have a subscription like you would with most streaming services. That said, DISH customers do get access to more content if they log in with the same DISH account that’s tied to their home service.
