Dutch retailer Belsimpel confirmed some pre-order details regarding the OnePlus 6, the next Android flagship from the Chinese smartphone manufacturer. The company is partnering with OnePlus to release the upcoming device in the Netherlands and will start taking advanced orders on the product immediately following its Wednesday announcement, at 6 PM local time (CEST). Belsimpel hasn’t revealed when it will start shipping the new handset but if previous OnePlus launches — both in Europe and other territories — are any indication, the OnePlus 6 will be released about a week after its official announcement, so pre-orders should start arriving to customers in the meantime.
The existence of pre-orders and the Belsimpel partnership itself also mark OnePlus’s official launch in the Netherlands, with the local retailer being in charge of handling warranties and offering consumers the ability to purchase the OnePlus 6 in installments. The collaboration will also guarantee the Android phablet is sold at its official prices in the Netherlands, though those have yet to be disclosed, with recent reports suggesting the device may start at around €500 or $600, depending on the market, hence possibly being somewhat more expensive than the OnePlus 5T which started at $500.
The OnePlus 6 has already been leaked on multiple occasions, in addition to being the subject of a wide variety of reports in recent months. The latest such sighting was recorded several days back when the handset appeared in high-resolution renders on Amazon Germany, albeit the premature listing was removed within hours of being spotted. The base model of the device is still expected to feature 6GB of RAM and 64GB of storage space like the most affordable OnePlus 5T variant did, whereas the most premium one will now have 8GB of RAM and 256GB of flash memory, the Shenzhen-based company said last month. A dual-camera setup with a 20-megapixel sensor and another 16-megapixel one is also expected to be part of the package, together with a 16-megapixel front camera and Android 8.1 Oreo-based OxygenOS. As is the case with the majority of this year’s high-end mobile releases, AI is set to be a large focus of the OnePlus 6.
