Honeywell Home App For Smart Home Control Hits Android

Honeywell International, Inc. has officially launched a new application called Honeywell Home for more intelligent control of its increasing lineup of smart household devices. For those who already own Honeywell smart home products, this will actually completely replace the Lyric app previously used. The purpose of the app is to bring control of the company’s security cameras, thermostats, water leak detectors and future tech products under a single, easy-to-use tool. That means there have been some pretty substantial changes to the interface, stability, and functionality with the new app. Moreover, the app marks the launch of the new Honeywell Membership plans, which provide storage options for smart cameras, in order to make managing subscriptions more straightforward from within the app itself.

The first change users will notice with the launch of this new app is going to be the icon. Honeywell has opted for a more intuitive house-shaped icon in red this time around, rather than the blue-dotted flare used in the previous app. That should make finding the app an easier task. However, while the app interface has also been changed to a more clean, almost Material Design look, and adapted to include all controls for Honeywell’s devices in a single app, most changes are actually under the hood. The application has been built entirely new from the ground up to improve stability and integration with Honeywell’s products. That means the smart device features of those should work better than ever. That functionality is, of course, going to depend entirely on which smart device is being controlled and a full description can be found via the button below but storage for smart cameras is getting the biggest change. Users don’t need to pay anything to store up to 24 hours of clips from connected cameras for up to 50 clips. However, new options are available in the app for those who want to hold onto those a bit longer. The cost of a single camera setup is $4.99 for 30 days or $49.99 for a year – with two months free for those who pay annually – allowing up to 1,500 clips to be stored. Meanwhile, those with multiple cameras can pay either $14.99 for 60 days or $149.99 for a year and up to 3,000 clips.

With all of that said, those who are still using the previous Honeywell Lyric don’t need to do much to get the new app. They can simply set their current app to auto-update and, whereas new arrivals to the Honeywell smart home ecosystem can download it by referring to the banner below.
