Another set of renders depicting what’s said to be Motorola’s upcoming Moto Z3 Play emerged online earlier today, giving even more credence to previous reports and indications that the modular Android mid-ranger will be equipped with a fingerprint reader embedded into the side-mounted power button installed alongside its right edge. The latest leak is entirely in line with the render of the device AndroidHeadlines shared last month, revealing a handset with an elongated 18:9 display panel which lacks a physical home button, as well as a metal rear plate featuring a dual-camera setup.
The main imaging system of the Moto Z3 Play is said to utilize two 12-megapixel sensors, with the Android device being expected to feature a 6-inch screen with an FHD+ resolution of 2,160 by 1,080 pixels. Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 636 clocked at 1.8GHz is also said to be part of the package, together with 4GB of RAM and 32GB of storage space. A smartphone variant with 64GB of flash memory is understood to be in the works as well but Motorola is unlikely to offer both on a global level, as evidenced by its previously employed product practices. The Moto Z3 Play should feature a microSD card slot allowing for up to 256GB of extra storage, previous leaks suggested.
The Lenovo-owned electronics maker is reportedly planning to introduce its next modular mid-ranger next Wednesday, June 6, at a dedicated launch event in Brazil, one of its largest foreign markets. The Moto Z3 Play is expected to debut alongside a number of new Moto Mods, including a 5G module which should make the device compatible with the upcoming fifth generation of mobile networks. Following its early June announcement, the Android mid-ranger is likely to become available for purchase worldwide by early summer, though it remains to be seen how many wireless carrier partnerships Motorola manages to secure in order to promote it domestically and abroad.
