Close to a dozen new real-life images of the upcoming Nokia X appeared online on Chinese social media network Weibo earlier this week, suggesting that HDM Global is coming closer to creating an entirely bezel-less smartphone. The photographs seen in the gallery below show the Nokia X from all angles, revealing a device with a small display notch and a slim chin whose screen-to-body ratio appears to be in the ballpark of 90-percent.
The panel found on the Nokia X is said to be of the 5.8-inch variety and has a 19:9 aspect ratio which translates to an 18:9 (2:1) image format when not accounting for the corners of the screen flanking the cutout at the top. The display is expected to be an FHD+ affair, i.e. support resolutions of up to 2,280 by 1,080 pixels. A dual-camera setup also appears to be part of the package, with recent rumors pointing to a 16-megapixel main sensor. Another 16-megapixel module is said to be housed by the display notch of the device which is expected to be powered by either MediaTek’s Helio P60 or Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 636 chip. HMD is rumored to be planning three Nokia X models featuring between 3GB and 6GB of RAM, and either 32GB or 64GB of flash memory. The latest leak also points to a glass back plate, though the upcoming smartphone is unlikely to support wireless charging, a feature that has yet to even be embraced by all contemporary flagships.
The Nokia X models that are launching in China will feature a custom implementation of Android 8.1 Oreo but if the device ends up being available globally, its international variants are likely to be introduced as part of Google’s Android One program, much like the rest of HMD’s 2018 lineup. The handset was initially expected to debut by early May but its launch is now said to have been moved to next Wednesday, May 16, which is the same day when the OnePlus 6 Android flagship will be introduced internationally.
