Ahead of the official unveiling of the Nokia X6 in China, which will take place later today, additional details about the specs and features of the upcoming mid-range device from HMD Global have popped up online, courtesy of some promo images and press renders spotted on Baidu. The leaked images confirm some already known specs of the Nokia X6 such as the Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 processor comprised of an octa-core Kryo 260 CPU which runs at a maximum clock speed of 1.8GHz and the Adreno 509 GPU. This has been recently revealed in a listing on the website of the benchmark application Geekbench, which also indicates that the Nokia X6 will pack 6GB of RAM and run Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box. It is worth pointing out as well that the device could be immediately upgraded to Android P once the next version of Android is released, with Google having recently announced during the Google I/O 2018 event that it is working with Qualcomm to accelerate the delivery of Android P to a number of Snapdragon chipsets, including the Snapdragon 636.
According to the leaked images, the Nokia X6 is also supposedly sporting a 5.8-inch FullHD+ display with a notch, which indicates that its screen will have a 19:9 ratio. The notch on the display is also likely to include the front camera, an earpiece, and a proximity sensor, the images suggest. These details are similar to the specs disclosed by the leaked images that appeared on the Chinese social networking site Weibo, where the phone is depicted as having an almost entirely bezel-less design. A dual-camera setup with a 16-megapixel primary sensor and a 5-megapixel secondary sensor is supposed to be sitting at the top of the smartphone’s rear panel, mounted immediately above a fingerprint sensor, as shown by the promo images. Meanwhile, the front-facing camera will have a 16-megapixel sensor as well as a range of beauty filters and an artificial intelligence-assisted 3D blur feature as the dual-camera setup is said to include support for both HDR and AI.
Nokia is expected to officially announce the upcoming lineup on May 16 in the form of two models, one with the above-mentioned Snapdragon 636 chipset and one which is believed to be the base model shipping with 4GB of RAM and MediaTek’s Helio P60 chip.
