According to a listing on the website of the benchmark application Geekbench, the Nokia X6, an upcoming mid-range smartphone offering from the device maker HMD Global, will likely be powered by the Snapdragon 636 chipset. This SoC is designed by the semiconductor firm Qualcomm, and it is comprised of an octa-core Kryo 260 CPU which runs at a maximum clock speed of 1.8GHz and the Adreno 509 GPU. The Geekbench listing also states that the Nokia X6 will include 6GB of RAM, and it shows that the smartphone will ship with Android 8.1 Oreo pre-installed. However, it should be noted that the device could quickly receive a software update that will upgrade the handset’s operating system to Android P, after Google announced during the Google I/O 2018 event that it is working with Qualcomm in order to speed up the delivery of Android P to a number of Snapdragon chipsets, including the Snapdragon 636 SoC that the Nokia X6 will reportedly use.
Earlier reports indicate that the variant that appeared on the website of the Geekbench benchmark will be the more premium model of the Nokia X6. In contrast, the base variant of the Nokia X6 will reportedly be powered by Helio P60 chipset from the Taiwanese semiconductor company MediaTek, and it is expected to contain 4GB of RAM.
Previous leaks have already provided details regarding the design of the upcoming smartphone offering of HMD Global. Leaked renders show that the front-facing selfie shooter, the ambient light sensor, and the earpiece of the Nokia X6 are all placed in a notch, which is located above the handset’s 5.8-inch display with an aspect ratio of 19:9. Meanwhile, the right side of the smartphone contains both the volume rocker and the power button, while the rear panel of the Nokia X6 includes the dual rear camera setup and the fingerprint scanner for quickly unlocking the device. The phone’s dual rear cameras, which will reportedly be equipped with lenses provided by Carl Zeiss, are arranged vertically while the LED flash is located directly below the two rear shooters. It is rumored that the Nokia X6 will be announced on May 16th, and more information regarding the availability and the pricing of the handset will likely become available on the launch date.
