An unannounced Sharp smartphone bearing the model number FS8034 recently paid a visit to the Chinese telecommunication regulatory agency TENAA, and as usual, this turn of events appears to signal the OEM’s intentions for introducing a new smartphone to the market relatively soon. However, unlike some of Sharp’s newer devices, three of which feature relatively unusual designs with thin bezels and display notches, the FS8034 appears to be wrapped in a less eccentric exterior featuring an elongated 18:9 image format.
In addition, the Sharp FS8034 seems to have a metal chassis as suggested by the two antenna stripes running across the back panel, and in turn, the back panel accommodates a horizontally-aligned dual camera setup as well as a fingerprint sensor. But make no mistake, as judging by the internal specifications this is a mid-range smartphone. It features a four-core processor clocked at up to 1.3GHz, and the device will apparently be offered in three main configurations featuring 2GB, 3GB, or 4GB of RAM. Storage is split between 16GB and 32GB configurations and can be expanded through a microSD card slot by up to an additional 128GB. The screen of the device measures 5.7-inches in diagonal and has a pixel count of 1440 by 720, and the components are driven by a 3,900mAh battery. This tips the scales to a total weight of 148 grams, and as far as the overall measurements go the FS8034 clocks in at 152.3 x 72.4 x 8.8-millimeters.
The main camera configuration seems to be comprised of a 13-megapixel unit and a secondary 5-megapixel sensor, while selfies are being handled by an 8-megapixel shooter. The smartphone runs Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box, it offers Bluetooth connectivity and supports GSM, CDMA, TD-SCDMA, TD-LTE, LTE FDD, WCIMA, and CIMA 2000 networking technologies. Lastly, although the smartphone is only seen in the color black, the TENAA application specifies that the FS8034 should also be launched in gold. As for availability, many of Sharp’s smartphones usually see a narrower release in select markets but the FS8034 doesn’t seem like one of the OEM’s more ambitious or experimental projects, so in theory, it could be prepared for a more widespread launch in Asia and emerging countries.
