The Spanish smartphone manufacturer BQ has recently released two new Android One smartphones, dubbed the BQ Aquaris X2 and the Aquaris X2 Pro. Both smartphones will ship with Android 8.1 Oreo pre-installed, and by being part of the Android One program, the two devices could potentially receive security patches and operating system upgrades earlier than other devices. Both handsets sport a 5.65-inch LCD display with a resolution of 2160 by 1080 pixels and an aspect ratio of 18:9, and these screens are protected from scratches by a sheet of Corning Gorilla Glass. The two devices also sport a dual rear camera setup, which is equipped with one 12-megapixel sensor and one 5-megapixel module. Also located on the back panel of both smartphones is the fingerprint sensor for quickly unlocking the device while the LED flash is placed directly below the dual rear cameras. The front-facing selfie shooters of both the Aquaris X2 and the Aquaris X2 Pro have an 8-megapixel sensor from Samsung. To keep its lights on, the handsets contain a 3,100mAh battery.
The two smartphones differ primarily in terms of the chipset that powers the device. The BQ Aquaris X2 is equipped with a Snapdragon 636 chipset, which is comprised of an octa-core Kryo CPU running at a maximum clock speed of 1.8GHz and the Adreno 509 GPU clocked at up to 430MHz. On the other hand, the Aquaris X2 Pro is equipped with a more powerful Snapdragon 660 chipset. This SoC is comprised of an octa-core Kryo 260 CPU running at a maximum clock speed of 2.2GHz and the Adreno 512 GPU, which is clocked at 650MHz.
The handsets are currently available for pre-order directly from BQ. The BQ Aquaris X2 is available in two variants.
