Xiaomi’s CEO, Lei Jun, has just confirmed that the Mi Max 3 phablet will be announced in July. Lei Jun confirmed this info via Weibo (Chinese social network), as he was responding to a question by one of the consumers. Some rumors suggested that the Mi Max 3 may arrive during Xiaomi’s upcoming Shenzhen event, as the Mi Max 2 launched in May last year, but that’s not going to happen.
The Xiaomi Mi Max 3 will be the company’s third-gen mid-range phablet, and as the first two were quite successful, Xiaomi has opted to introduce the third one as well. During the company’s Shenzhen event, which Lei Jun confirmed will be hosted before the end of this month, Xiaomi is expected to launch the Xiaomi Mi 7, 8th anniversary smartphone, and the Mi Band 3. Lei Jun had confirmed recently that the company is planning to drop several products during that event, while Xiaomi already teased the arrival of the Mi Band 3. The Xiaomi Mi 7 and 8th anniversary smartphone have been leaking for quite some time now, so those two phones will probably make an appearance as well. Now, as far as the Mi Max 3 is concerned, that device is expected to ship with noticeably thinner bezels than its predecessor, as both the Mi Max and Mi Max 2 sport really thick bezels, and a set of capacitive buttons below the display. Well, Xiaomi is expected to change the Mi Max 3’s design, as the phone will probably resemble the Redmi 5 Plus / Redmi Note 5, at least to an extent.
The Xiaomi Mi Max 3 will almost certainly ship with a rear-facing fingerprint scanner, while the phone will utilize on-screen buttons. The device will be made out of metal, almost certainly, and it will be fueled by a chip from Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 600 series, at least that was the case thus far. The Mi Max 3 is expected to sport a really large display, its predecessor shipped with a 6.4-inch panel, but considering that the Mi Max 3 will sport thinner bezels, it is possible that Xiaomi opts to include an even larger display in the Mi Max 3, a 6.5 or 6.6-inch display, maybe, though we’re only guessing at this point.
