A couple of days ago, Xiaomi’s CEO, Lei Jun, confirmed that the company plans to release several new products during its upcoming Shenzhen event, and he just confirmed that the event will be hosted before the end of this month. Now, rumors are suggesting that the company may host this event on May 31, and judging by Lei Jun’s comments, that is one of the options, and considering that the event will be hosted before the end of the month, Xiaomi will almost certainly announce an exact date in the near future.
Now, the company had recently announced that this Shenzhen event is coming, and judging by rumors, Xiaomi will announce the Mi 7, 8th anniversary smartphone, and the Mi Band 3. Xiaomi had already teased the arrival of the Mi Band 3, while the other two phones leaked several times now, but Xiaomi did not share a single teaser regarding those two smartphones. The 8th anniversary smartphone is rumored to include 3D facial scanning, similar to the one utilized by Apple in the iPhone X, while the Mi 7 will be the company’s new flagship, and it will sport a notch if rumors are to be believed. Both of those devices are expected to ship with high-end specs, but only specs of the Mi 7 leaked thus far. The Xiaomi Mi 7 is expected to sport a 5.45-inch fullHD+ display, according to rumors, while the device will ship with 6GB or 8GB of RAM on the inside, both versions are a possibility, actually. Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 845 64-bit octa-core SoC will fuel the phone, while Android Oreo will come pre-installed on it, with Xiaomi’s MIUI 9 skin. The Mi 7 will sport really thin bezels, and its display will almost certainly feature rounded corners.
The Xiaomi Mi 7 will join the likes of the Mi MIX 2S as the company’s flagship smartphone, and the 8th anniversary smartphone is rumored to do the same, even though we don’t really have any details when it comes to that smartphone, other than the fact it will sport iPhone X-esque facial scanning. It remains to be seen if Xiaomi will introduce all three of the aforementioned devices during its Shenzhen event, but it sure seems like it, as not only rumors are saying so, but the company’s tagline for the event more or less confirmed that this will be its biggest event of the year.
