If recent reports are to be believed, ZTE may have two different variations of a new device under wraps under the model number ZTE V890. That’s according to a listing reportedly found in China Telecom’s database, which included images, a user manual, and near-complete specifications for the device. For those who may not be aware, this is the same model number associated with a ZTE device which currently showed up at the TENAA back in March. That prior revelation showed a 6-inch handset with a 2160 x 1080 display set at the now common 18:9 ratio. Several other details were listed as well but, as with all such listings, may not have been entirely accurate. The newly reported data match up on some points but also clarify a few things.
For starters, it was listed as being driven by a 3,900mAh battery powering an unnamed octa-core processor clocked at 1.8GHz. The new information points toward a slightly larger battery at 4,000mAh and the Snapdragon 636 SoC. Aside from those details, the inclusion of a dual rear camera array set at 16-megapixels and 2-megapixels, coupled with an 8-megapixel selfie shooter has all but been confirmed. Those are accompanied by an LED flash on the back, while the new listing also confirms a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner and headphone jack. Android 8.0 will reportedly be the operating system behind all of that hardware. Meanwhile, the device dimensions were previously listed at 163mm x 75mm x 7.8mm, with a weight of 168 grams and the entire package was wrapped in glass. The updated listing from China Telecom shows slightly lower figures at 162mm x 75mm x 7.8mm and 162 grams.
Last but not least, storage and pricing seem to be cleared up by the listing. Based on the China Telecom documentation, the main difference between the two variants will be in terms of those. Both will come with storage that’s expandable by 256GB via micro SD. However, the more affordable Standard Edition, starting at 3299 Yuan, is expected to arrive with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of onboard storage. The more expensive “High Edition,” conversely will feature 128GB of storage and 6GB of RAM. There won’t be much color differentiation between the two, either, with the new listing showing both only shipping in “Hyun crystal black.”
