Web giant Google has heavily revamped the Google Account screen on Android to make data more transparent and easier to access, and for an easier experience all around. The changes are live on Android today, across all Android versions and device vendors, and will be coming to web and iOS in the coming weeks. The redesign sports a centralized Google Account hub with tabs for different categories There’s also a support section where you can go through a number of steps to get help with your specific problem concerning your account. To access this new view, open your phone’s Settings app, tap on Google, then Google Account.
Once you’re in, you’ll be looking at the Home view, where Google will show you any issues that need to be brought to your attention, like security or privacy problems. You can also manage your account’s storage here, which is shared across all services, such as Gmail and Drive. The next tab over is Personal info, where you can view and edit the basic information Google has on you, like your name, nickname, birth date and contact information. In the Data & personalization tab, you’ll find activity controls, your personal timeline, and a place where you can download all of your data, make a plan for what happens if your account goes inactive, and even delete data Google has on your or your entire account. Naturally, this tab is mostly focused on implementing new features and making things easier for users in order to ensure Google’s suite of services is in compliance with the GDPR.
The next tab over is Security, where you’ll find your password, verification options, your devices, and third-party apps with access to your data. Naturally, all of these can be modified or deleted. People & sharing is wher eyou’ll find information on your contacts, your family if you’ve registered them in the Family Link app, location sharing, Google+ settings, and your public profile.Finally, Payments & subscriptions holds your payment methods, purchase histories, revolving subscriptions, and paid reservations like flights, hotels, restaurants and theater tickets. Along the bottom, you can also search within your account data, find the dedicated support section, or pop up a menu that will give you options to warp to each tab or view Google’s privacy policy.
