Samsung’s Galaxy Tab S4 and Galaxy Tab A 10.1 (2018) have been the subjects of numerous rumors in recent months and while their exact launch dates remain unclear, both slates will be offered in black and gray color options following their commercialization, SamMobile reports, citing sources close to the South Korean manufacturer. The same insiders also claim the two products will be introduced this summer, no later than August. Samsung reportedly already scheduled an “Unpacked” event on August 9 but that New York City happening has so far only been mentioned in conjunction with the Galaxy Note 9 flagship and the Gear S4 smartwatch.
It’s presently unclear whether “black” and “gray” will be the actual official names of the two color options, though that would be in line with Samsung’s established naming practices; last year’s Galaxy Tab S3 lineup was available in Black and Silver, for example. The Galaxy Tab S4 is believed to be marked by the model number SM-T835, whereas the Galaxy Tab A 10.1 (2018) will supposedly also be known as the SM-T595, according to recent rumors and a number of regulatory filings. The official monikers of the two gadgets aren’t known but Samsung isn’t expected to drastically alter its tablet naming conventions this year.
While the new addition to the Galaxy Tab A series is expected to be advertised as a value-oriented proposition, the Galaxy Tab S4 will most likely ship with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835, a QHD screen, S Pen stylus similar to the one included with the Galaxy Note 8, and a number of other specifications and options that should see Samsung advertise it as a premium offering for power users and individuals on the lookout for a no-compromise slate. A custom implementation of Android Oreo is widely predicted to be installed on both slates, together with support for Google’s Project Treble which may see the tablet duo receive software updates more quickly and frequently than their predecessors did.
