Samsung Galaxy Tab S4 To Have 7300mAh Battery, More Specs Leak

Samsung’s Galaxy Tab S4 will feature a 7,300mAh battery, a significant improvement over the 6,000mAh cell found inside the South Korean company’s Galaxy Tab S3-series slates launched last year, according to a new rumor which emerged on Twitter earlier today. Other newly reported specs of the device include a 10.5-inch display panel with a WQXGA resolution of 2,560 by 1,600 pixels amounting to a rectangular aspect ratio of 16:10, as well as Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 system-on-chip, an expected choice given how the Galaxy Tab S3 line utilized the Snapdragon 820. The upcoming Android tablet family will also utilize a 13-megapixel rear camera and an 8-megapixel front one, as per the same source.

The newly emerged rumor and a number of other recent reports on the matter indicate that the Seoul-based consumer electronics maker is looking to improve its 2017 tablet series across the board, delivering successors with larger screens, higher-capacity batteries, better processors, and possibly more RAM, as well as an iris scanner meant to both supplement and complement the fingerprint reader embedded into the physical Home button on the front. Support for Samsung Desktop Experience (DeX) Pad may also be part of the package, allowing future Galaxy Tab S4 owners to leverage the device as a large touchpad while having it connected to a monitor and other PC peripherals such as a keyboard. As the Galaxy Tab S4 should also ship with an S Pen stylus, DeX support may allow it to act as a limited replacement for graphics tablets.

The Galaxy Tab S4 will be introduced after the Galaxy Note 9 Android handset launches on August 9, according to the latest report on the matter, though previous rumors suggested the two may be unveiled together. A separate launch scenario is more likely because without the Galaxy Note 9, Samsung will need to put in extra effort to maintain its historically strong presence at IFA, a Berlin, Germany-based consumer electronics trade show taking place in late summer which was traditionally used as the venue for Samsung to announce its new Galaxy Note-series flagships. Besides the Galaxy Tab S4, Samsung may also unveil the Gear S4 smartwatch lineup at the same event.
