Vodafone Germany and Samsung are now offering the V-Home Safety Starter Kit, which aims to secure the home of its users through improved surveillance. The device package is comprised of a SmartThings Wi-Fi Hub, a camera, a multi-purpose sensor, and a siren. The SmartThings Wi-Fi Hub, which is manufactured by Samsung, is responsible for coordinating and controlling the connected devices within the home. The hub has the capability to turn on or off smart devices automatically, and it also enables the homeowner to control smart home devices using the SmartThings app, which could be downloaded by users from the Google Play Store. Moreover, the SmartThings Wi-Fi Hub is compatible with both the Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa. The camera included with the Safety Starter Kit records video clips with a resolution of up to 720p, while the multi-purpose sensor detects movement and changes in the temperature within the home, including the opening of doors, windows, and cupboards. Once a suspicious activity has been detected by either the camera or the multi-purpose sensor, the two devices will send a notification to the user, and it will also activate the siren that comes with the Safety Starter Kit.
Aside from the device package, the carrier is also offering the V-Home Services, which consists of the V-Home Monitor, the Alarm Assistant, and the V-Home Video services. The V-Home Monitor permits users to control their devices through the SmartThings app, while the Alarm Assistant informs the homeowners and their relatives of any emergencies through a phone call. The V-Home Video service, on the other hand, includes 10GB of cloud storage capacity, which is used to store video clips captured by the camera within the past two weeks. Vodafone Germany offers the V-Home services for €9.99 per month.
Interested consumers may outright purchase the V-Home Safety Starter Kit for €389.90, although the carrier is currently offering a promotional discount of €50, reducing the price of the device package to €339.90. Consumers may also choose to pay for the Safety Starter Kit for 24 monthly payments of €10 with an initial downpayment of €149.90, although the carrier also reduced the upfront charge to €99.90 for a limited period.
