Second LG-Made Wear OS Smartwatch Certified By The FCC

The United States Federal Communications Commission certified yet another LG-made smartwatch running Wear OS, having published some basic documentation pertaining to a device identified by the model number “LM-W319” earlier today. Just over a month ago, the stateside telecom regulator certified the “LM-W315,” another Wear OS wearable from the South Korean company. The existence of a rebranded version of Google’s smartwatch operating system on the two devices is evident by the FCC’s label information attached to their listings which shows the Settings menus of both wearables and is clearly indicative of an unreleased Wear OS build. LG’s Open Source Code Distribution center now mentions the LM-W315 and LM-W319 as well, with Droid Life discovering their listings together with Android Oreo references.

While the two upcoming wearables may be meant to succeed last year’s LG Watch Style and Watch Sport, one or both of them could also be variants of the LG Watch Timepiece, a hybrid gadget whose existence was exclusively reported by AndroidHeadlines in April. The smartwatch in question will pair traditional, mechanical clock hands with a touchscreen, being capable of serving as either an Internet-enabled timepiece or a contemporary wearable. Neither the LM-W315 nor the LM-W319 were tested by the FCC for cellular connectivity, with the implication being that they’re Wi-Fi-only offerings, much like the LG Watch Timepiece is expected to be. The device in question is likely to be priced in the range between $250 and $350, effectively being a more unconventional alternative to the Watch Style but below the overall capabilities of the Watch Sport.

The Watch Timepiece is expected to be sold in New Aurora Black and Cloud Silver, though the Seoul-based company doesn’t have a history of attaching unique model numbers to every color variant of its otherwise identical products, so the LM-W315 and LM-W319 should have more differentiators between each other. The LG Watch Timepiece was last rumored to be set for a June announcement and a mid-summer release.
