Sprint Donates $20K For Animal Rescue To Honor LG G7 ThinQ

Sprint is donating $20,000 to animal rescue to celebrate the G7 ThinQ. More specifically, Sprint is donating $20,000 to a particular animal rescue organization to celebrate and highlight the camera capabilities of the G7 ThinQ, which Sprint officially launched today, marking the first day of actual sales of the phone following Sprint’s pre-order period for the device. The donation is being set up in partnership with LG and will be going to North Shore Animal League America to help with costs associated with taking in animals and working to place them in homes after being rescued.

While the results of the amount of Sprint and LG’s monetary donation is just now being revealed, the act of donating this money was brought forward by Sprint last month. The company announced that during its pre-order period for the LG G7 ThinQ, that it in partnership with LG would donate $10 for every single pet photo that was posted up to social media that had the hashtag #SprintLGG7 attached to it. Judging by the dollar amount, it would seem that there were 2,000 photos posted which followed these guidelines, and since this was during the pre-order period these are photos which weren’t taken with the LG G7 but other devices, as the phone was not yet available.

The donation commitment from pet photos wasn’t necessarily resulting directly in equivalent sales of the LG G7 since it wasn’t specified that users had to post photos taken with the LG G7 ThinQ’s camera, but due to it being a promotional campaign of sorts for the LG G7 ThinQ, it’s entirely possible that some people who either saw the hashtags and photos or posted some of their own photos to this campaign may have been considering the device for their next phone. With Sprint now selling the latest smartphone from LG, customers of the carrier can pick up the device for $33 per month, and right now Sprint is running a BOGO promo where customers who buy the LG G7 ThinQ at that monthly price can get a second one as part of the monthly deal.
