At least one of Vivo’s three recently certified NEX devices has now cropped up in a web-based Chinese game show. In the video, the game show’s host is seen walking the streets with the device as he searches for contestants to take part in a challenge. The challenge, in this case, is to perform something called the Chinese Finger Dance, which has apparently become very popular lately in the country. It goes without saying, of course, that the device shown in the video could turn out not to be the device in question and that it isn’t at all the point of the video. Setting aside the high-level hilarity of the failed attempts to replicate the dance moves, however, the video itself is available in 1080p HD. The alleged Vivo device, meanwhile, is what the host is using to show the Americans what the dance is. As a result, it provides a very clear look at the handset.
That means it’s relatively easy to see some of the devices features. For starters, the entire handset appears to coated in some type of glass even at the back panel – which seems to be machined from metal. The edges on that curve cleanly towards what is presumably a metal frame and there is a dual-sensor camera setup at the top-left-hand side. Under the cameras is what looks like an LED flash. Both the handset’s volume rockers and power button appear to be placed on the right-hand side when viewed from the front and the display panel appears to be flat. That reaches nearly all the way to each edge, without any room left for a selfie camera, giving the handset a decidedly premium look. In fact, the selfie shooter is shown as being a pop-up device which slips in and out of the top of the device. That’s a feature that’s almost certainly going to be unique among Android handsets and is shown sitting next to a 3.5mm headphone jack.
Moving on from there, there’s also no visible finger-print scanner in the video. That could mean that this device from the Chinese handset maker doesn’t come with one. But it’s more likely that will be either built into the display itself or along one of the side edges. Relatively little is known about this upcoming Vivo-branded handset but there are at least three models expected. One of those will almost certainly feature an octa-core Snapdragon 845 SoC and at least 6GB of RAM under a 5.99-inch OLED display panel. The RAM could be pushed all the way up to 8GB. That’s also expected to have a 98-percent screen to body ratio – which aligns well with the device shown in the video. The top-of-the-line variant is also the only version expected to have a pop-up selfie camera.
