Two more HMD-built Nokia devices have cropped up on the FCC which appear to be related to a pair of handsets spotted at the regulatory agency last month bearing the model numbers TA-1057 and TA-1063. The new devices, listed under model numbers TA-1074 and TA-1049 are actually described as being a second SKU of those other smartphones. In fact, although there still aren’t many details regarding those, they are listed as sharing nearly identical hardware. The primary exception to that is in the frequency bands, and associated mobile providers, which will be supported by each SKU. Additionally, the earlier reports are shown to have been referring to “SKU1,” which will feature NFC capabilities while the newly discovered listings will not.
That seems to indicate that each of the four model numbers, including the latest two, will be applied to variations of the same device but meant for different carriers or regions. Since the associated documents show the presumably Android-powered handsets to each feature the same hardware components, it’s likely safe to assume at least a couple of aspects reportedly earlier also apply here. Namely, these handsets will likely feature a display with a ratio set at 18:9, a 2,900mAh-capacity battery, and a 3.5mm headphone port. As with the prior devices, one of those – the TA-1074 – only supports a single SIM slot while the TA-1049 supports dual SIM operation. What’s more, while it’s worth bearing in mind that HMD Global and Nokia have yet to confirm anything, it may be possible to determine where at least one of the handsets will be sold. More directly, the FCC listing includes an image of the software label for the TA-1074 which clearly shows the word’s “European Union” underneath all of the other pertinent information.
For now, HMD Global has kept fairly tight-lipped about most of its upcoming handsets and its difficult to determine which part of the Android price spectrum these will fall into. The display ratio seems to suggest it will be on the premium side while the battery leans more toward the budget or mid-range end of things. It’s not unusual for NFC to be included in even the most affordable handsets either. With that said, until Nokia officially announces these handsets, it’s better to keep speculation to a minimum.
