According to a new rumor that surfaced on Weibo (Chinese social network), the Samsung Galaxy S10 will launch at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2019 in February, while the company’s first foldable smartphone may appear at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in January. This info comes from Ice Universe, a Chinese tipster, and if it’s accurate, Samsung will be extremely busy in the first quarter of next year.
Having said that, rumors have been claiming for the longest time that the Galaxy S10 will arrive early next year, and that it may launch in January, but it seems like that was incorrect, at least according to the source. That is not surprising, however, as we see such rumors regarding the Galaxy S series every year, and every year they end up being false. In any case, previous reports have suggested that Samsung plans to manufacture between 300,000 and 500,000 units of its upcoming foldable smartphone, and that the device may cost almost $2,000, one of those rumors suggested that its price point will be $1,850. That’s not exactly a price regular consumers will be willing to pay, which is probably why Samsung is planning to manufacture a limited amount of its foldable smartphones. Needless to say, Samsung is planning to release a true foldable smartphone, which comes with a foldable display, and the company will probably look to get some feedback from the market before it dives in deeper, and focuses more on foldable smartphones. It remains to be seen if they will ever become a standard, of course, it’s a completely new form factor we’re looking at.
We still do not have all that much info about the Galaxy S10, but the device is rumored to arrive in three variants, compared to the two models that the company released this year. The Galaxy S10 and S10 Plus will arrive, as expected, but in addition to those two phones, a smaller Galaxy S10 is also rumored to become a reality, a phone which will be truly compact. The Galaxy S10 is expected to ship with 6GB or 8GB of RAM, while chances are that Samsung will include 512GB of storage in at least one of the Galaxy S10 variants. One of the Galaxy S10 handsets (or more than one) may also include three rear-facing cameras, according to rumors.
