Honor 10 Hits 3M Sold Units, OEM Grows 150% Globally

The Honor 10 surpassed three million global sales, with the Huawei-owned phone maker itself growing its international business by 150-percent annually over the first half of the year, the company revealed. The Chinese firm has been focusing on strengthening its overseas presence in recent years, with that strategy now seemingly paying off, allowing it to establish itself in a broad range of new markets. Over the course of the last six months, Honor launched new units in Egypt, Mexico, Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia, Singapore, Pakistan, Colombia, and the Philippines, having now signaled an even more aggressive expansion push is set to follow shortly.

Honor now also took over the title of the fastest-growing smartphone brand in India from Xiaomi, having recorded a 300-percent jump in local sales over the same period. In Europe, Honor’s most promising market is Spain, where the company experienced a massive 500-percent growth in the first half of the year, whereas its business in the United Kingdom is now also being labeled as a large success, having expanded by some 200-percent annually. The Honor 10 itself is also doing well domestically and has surpassed a million sold units in late May, with the company remaining the best-selling online brand in the Far Eastern country, yet another title that it took from Xiaomi.

In the medium term, Honor says its goal of becoming the third-largest smartphone vendor on the planet within the next half a decade is still being pursued, with that place presently being held by its parent Huawei who’s aiming for the number one spot over the same period. Honor representatives have always been eager to point out that while affiliated, the two companies are pursuing their own product strategies and target audiences, claiming their relationship isn’t much different to that of divisions of the world’s largest automakers. Honor is expected to announce at least half a dozen new Android smartphones in the second half of the year, most of which are likely to be available in the West.
