Industry insider, Evan Blass, recently posted on his Twitter account the press renders of the Huawei TalkBand B5. This device will reportedly succeed the TalkBand B3, which was launched by the Chinese tech firm more than two years ago. The press renders show that the device will have a black-colored body and an elongated display, and like previous iterations of the TalkBand products, the body can be detached from the straps of the wearable. Once the body is detached, it could also function as a single-ear Bluetooth earpiece. The leak further claims that the wearable will be available in two color variants, which are gold with a leather strap and silver with a metal band. It also seems that Huawei will skip the number 4, which is considered unlucky in the tech firm’s home market.
Like its predecessors, the Huawei TalkBand B5 is also expected to function as a fitness tracker and it could potentially offer notification support, which means that the device could alert users of messages, calls, or other important reminders. Moreover, leaked press renders show that the display of the TalkBand B5 will show information like time, weather, and temperature, and it could also display fitness data, like the number of steps that the user has taken within the day.
The leak did not provide any information regarding the specifications of the TalkBand B5, although the leak shows that the upcoming wearable will sport a similar design to its predecessor, the TalkBand B3. The older wearable sports a Passive-Matrix OLED (PMOLED) display with a resolution of 80 by 128 pixels, and it is likely that the Chinese device maker will incorporate a similar display technology in its upcoming wearable. Moreover, in the older versions of the TalkBand wearables, the body can be detached from the strap by pushing small buttons located on both sides of the device. The presence of similar buttons in the press renders indicate that a similar mechanism will likely be used by the Talkband B5. There are no details available regarding the pricing and availability of the Huawei TalkBand B5, although more information will likely become available in the near future.
