Motiv Ring Fitness Tracker Is Now Available On Android

Motiv’s has now announced that the application for its ring-shaped wearable is exiting the open beta phase and officially launching for Android. That follows more than a year of exclusive support on Apple’s iOS platform for the fitness sensor-enabled device. Amazon Alexa support was also added during the beta, allowing users to sync up and get fitness metrics from Alexa-enabled devices. It has also been made fully compatible with Google Fit for those users who are already taking advantage of Android’s fitness features via the search giant’s dedicated health service. With the official launch, users can track active minutes, edit and view individual activities, and a plethora of other health-related information. Sleep, activity, step, and distance tracking are included as well as heart rate monitoring and calorie burn figures thanks to the device’s built-in sensors. Over the next several months, the app is slated to come more fully fleshed out with the company’s ‘Sleep Restlessness’ and ‘Were you active’ activity detection features.

However, for the time being, support is only technically offered for a very limited number of devices. The list includes Samsung’s Galaxy Note 5 and Note 8, Galaxy S7, Galaxy S7 Edge, Galaxy S8, Galaxy S8 Plus, Galaxy S9, and Galaxy S9 Plus. Google’s Pixel, Pixel XL, Pixel 2, and Pixel 2 XL are supported too. With that said, given the wide range of generations covered by the list, many other devices will also likely run the application as well. The listed devices are only those that Motiv has officially tested and optimized for. The application itself is completely free to download and to use once a user signs in with their account.

Of course, the app itself also requires Motiv’s Ring, which sells for $199 with a $20 discount for each successive order. Seven sizes are available and the company ships a ring sizing kit first, upon order placement, so that users can ensure the correct size is received. The order is completed by the user following that, using a purchase code, and rings are available in either Rose Gold or Slate Gray. With regard to technology, the solid titanium wearable features an embedded 3-axis accelerometer, optical heart rate sensor, Bluetooth, and a battery which charges wirelessly in around 90 minutes.
