VIZIO today announced its new 2018 P-series Quantum 4K HDR Smart TV is now available to buy in the US. With VIZIO confirming those looking to pick up the new TV — model number PQ65-F1 — will want to order from either Best Buy, Costco or Sam’s Club, as they are currently the only retailers carrying the new TV. In terms of the price, the new P-series Quantum 4K HDR Smart TV retails for $2,099.99 in the US.
Besides the usual 4K and HDR selling points, the big selling point with this 65-inch TV is the brightness levels, with VIZIO stating its new entry is capable of delivering up to 2,000 nits of peak brightness. Which essentially means it not only looks brighter than most other TVs, but it is actually brighter than most other TVs. Something which should further increase the HDR experience through the use of whiter whites, darker blacks, and more vivid colors in general. The level of nits offered here is the result of the use of an LED display and is largely considered to be at the top end of the TV brightness spectrum which makes this TV comparably to the rest of the best. For example, Samsung’s quantum dot LED (QLED) TVs are also designed to output a similar light level. With one of the key differences being the price as VIZIO looks to undercut the competition while providing a comparable experience in general.
Adding to its brightness and more accessible price is a design which also looks to adhere to the reduction in bezel approach that is now being seen with just about any and all display-based devices. Resulting in a unit that not only is all about the display, but largely, is all display. Which, in addition to compatibility with various smart TV apps, lets users cast content to the new, big and bright screen through the use of Chromecast built-in.
