An upcoming Huawei smartphone identified by the model number SNE-LX1 was recently approved by the FCC, and rumors suggest that the handset will hit the market as part of the Mate 20 lineup, specifically under the name of Huawei Mate 20 Lite. A similar device was also approved by TENAA, i.e., China’s equivalent of the FCC, a couple of weeks ago, indicating that Huawei is gearing up for the smartphone’s debut, at least in its homeland, if not worldwide. Despite the supposed “Lite” nametag, the handset seems to flaunt the right characteristics to be able and compete with premium devices, with the spec sheet including a generous 6.3-inch display with a resolution of 2340 x 1080, an octa-core processor, 6GB of RAM, and dual cameras on both the front and back panels.
As usual, the FCC documents don’t say much about the internal hardware but nevertheless, they indicate that the SNE-LX1 should be compatible with GSM bands 850 and 1900, UMTS bands II, IV, and V, LTE FDD 7 with carrier aggregation support, Bluetooth 4.2 LE, Wi-Fi 2.4G and 5G without MIMO support, as well as NFC. Furthermore, the FCC documents provide a sketch depicting the smartphone’s back panel and judging by this image, the device should share the exact same exterior design as the model previously approved by TENAA. It’s worth noting that although the FCC refers to the device by the model number SNE-LX1, TENAA identifies the smartphone by the model number SNE- AL00 instead, suggesting that the variant tested by the FCC might be destined for other markets outside of China.
As far as hardware and software characteristics go, TENAA reveals that the SNE-AL00, i.e., the Huawei Mate 20 Lite should boast a total of four cameras. The two rear-facing sensors will apparently have a resolution of 24 and 20-megapixels, respectively, but details surrounding the front-facing units haven’t been mentioned. The Chinese regulatory agency also reveals a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor, 64GB of on-board storage, an unspecified chipset housing eight CPU cores clocked at up to 2.2GHz, and a 3,650mAh battery. The smartphone measures 158.3 x 75.3 x 7.6-millimeters, weighs 172 grams and should run Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box. According to numerous recent leaks and rumors, the so-called Huawei Mate 20 Lite should be part of a wider smartphone series including the Huawei Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro, both of which are expected to be unveiled in the fourth quarter of the year.
