Google’s Pixel 3 Android flagship has been envisioned in a number of new 3D renders authored by designer Martin Hajek, with the device being visualized alongside the Pixel 3 XL which has already been leaking in real-life images and videos all over the Internet since last week after a pre-production batch ended up being stolen from Foxconn. The renders that can be seen in the gallery below have been removed from Mr. Hajek’s website as of early Monday morning PST for unknown reasons but still deliver a rare look at how the smaller Pixel 3 might end up looking like.
According to a limited number of reports, Google is effectively positioning the Pixel 3 as an upgraded version of the Pixel 2 XL that will look extremely similar to last year’s flagship but come with a newer system-on-chip in the form of the Snapdragon 845 and a potential boost in the memory department, though the base model is still expected to offer 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage space, as was the case with the 2017 generation. The handset is likely to feature a glass back given how wireless charging has been all but confirmed for the Pixel 3 range. While the aforementioned pre-production units of the Pixel 3 XL were said to feature builds resembling plastic (likely polycarbonate), the final products are still expected to offer glass backs as anything else would be a largely unprecedented move in the premium price bracket, at least as far as contemporary Android smartphones are confirmed.
The Pixel 3 should lack a display notch found on its larger sibling but is still rumored to sport a dual-camera setup on the front, as well as a single rear camera. The stereo speakers from the Pixel 2 line should be making a return this year, together with a USB Type-C slot, though the handsets are likely to lack a 3.5mm headphone jack, much like their predecessors. The new Android-powered devices are expected to be announced in early fall, with October 4 and October 9 being the last two rumored launch dates.
