The HTC U12 Life has just surfaced on Geekbench as the ‘HTC 2Q6E1’. This listing basically confirms that the device will be fueled by the Snapdragon 660 64-bit octa-core processor by Qualcomm, while it also reveals that the device will sport 4GB of RAM. Android 8.1 Oreo will come pre-installed on the U12 Life, and we’re looking at a stock version of Android here, as the U12 Life will be a part of Google’s Android One project, as was its predecessor, the U11 Life which arrived last year.
Those are more or less all the specs that got listed on Geekbench, but the source did reveal that the U12 Life managed to score 1,343 points in a single-core benchmark, while the phone managed to hit 4,897 points in the multi-core test. The HTC U11 Life was announced back in November last year, but its successor, the U12 Life, will not arrive in November this year, HTC is actually planning to launch this phone on August 30. HTC announced that something new for “U” is coming on August 30, and that’s an obvious teaser that the U12 Life is on the way. Needless to say, the U12 Life will be a mid-range smartphone, as was its predecessor, and it will be fueled by one of Qualcomm’s best mid-range processors.
The HTC U12 Life will almost certainly sport thinner bezels than the U11 Life, as the U11 Life had pretty thick bezels. The U12 Life will utilize on-screen buttons instead of capacitive ones that its predecessor sported, while a fingerprint scanner will almost certainly be located on the back of the U12 Life. Based on a leaked sketch which surfaced earlier this month, the U12 Life will ship with two vertically-aligned cameras on the back, while its display will sport rounded corners. The phone’s power / lock and volume rocker buttons will be located on the right, while its SIM card tray will be accessible from the left.
