Samsung announced the Galaxy Watch at its Unpacked event earlier this month, but did not mention pricing for the LTE model of its new smartwatch. With pre-orders for the Galaxy Watch LTE going live today, we now know the price and when to expect it in our hands. The Galaxy Watch LTE is going to be $379 for the smaller 42mm size, and $399 for the larger 46mm size. Additionally, right now there is only a T-Mobile model available for pre-order. It’s unclear if that is the only carrier supporting the Galaxy Watch LTE, or if the other carrier models will appear once shipments arrive on September 2.
The Galaxy Watch is the newest smartwatch from Samsung, and despite the change in its name, it is still running on Samsung’s Tizen operating system, instead of WearOS. It will still work with any Android smartphone running Android 4.2 or later, as well as iOS devices running iOS 10 and later. So virtually any newer smartphone will work with this smartwatch. Samsung decided to offer it in two sizes this year, with a 42mm available for those with smaller wrists. It also has a larger battery that should last for a few days on a single charge. The Galaxy Watch is able to track your fitness throughout the day – all the steps you take, calories burned, exercises and much more – as well as work as a regular smartwatch. It’ll deliver notifications on your wrist, and there are also a ton of apps that work with the Galaxy Watch. Including the likes of Samsung Health, Twitter, Uber and many more.
According to Samsung’s website, the 4G LTE models of the Galaxy Watch will begin arriving on September 2. Which is a little more than a week after the Galaxy Note 9 launches. Since September 2 is the Sunday before Labor Day, most pre-orderers probably won’t get their Galaxy Watch until September 4 at the very earliest.
