With Samsung’s Galaxy Note 9 flagship finally revealed and pre-orders already on the way, smartphone accessory manufacturer Speck has taken the wraps off of five cases intended to keep the pricey new hardware safe. Among those is at least one brand new case design, the Presidio Stay Clear design, which starts at $44.95. As its name implies, that’s a completely colorless case that’s been engineered to be resistant to discoloration. What’s more, the company says it won’t be adversely affected by UV exposure, lotions, makeup, and other oils that might come into contact with it. That should mean it will be able to show off the aesthetics of the device it’s meant to defend for longer than typical cases in the category. As with each of the new Presidio-branded designs, the Stay Clear case also features Speck’s trademark lab-tested ‘IMPACTIUM Shock Barrier’ technology. In this case, that boasts drop protection at up to 8-feet and a robust lip on the screen side to protect the panel during falls. That will also help when the $1,000 to $1,250 Android device is inadvertently placed somewhere it shouldn’t be with the screen-side facing down.
Moving past the newest addition to Speck’s lineup, the Presidio Pro and Presidio Grip are priced in-line with the above-mentioned case but with differences in appearance and functionality. Both add an extra layer of protection and increase drop protection to 10 feet. However, the Pro features a soft-touch anti-microbial material on the exterior in a smooth matte finish that’s sold in either a black-on-black or red-on-black configuration. It’s also explicitly designed to allow for wireless charging. The Grip case, meanwhile, includes geometrical ridges that allow users to get a better grip on the 6.4-inch phablet. No wireless charging features are noted for the latter of the two cases but it is available in more colors. Those include a completely black color scheme as well as combinations such as Graphite Grey and Charcoal Grey, Eclipse Blue and Carbon Black, Microchip Grey and Ballpoint Blue, and Black combined with Dark Poppy Red.
The Presidio Grip case is also available in a configuration Speck calls ‘Starlit Purple with Gold Glitter and Cattleya Pink.” As its name suggests, that’s a light purple and pink design with glitter embedded in the main portion of the case. The ‘Presidio Grip + Glitter’ case costs slightly more than its less flashy namesake at $49.95. Last but not least the company has also revealed a GemShell-branded style case for just $29.95. While not quite as rugged, the final new Speck case for the Galaxy Note 9 is a slim-fitting clear case with color-options for the bumpers. That final case doesn’t appear to be live on the Speck website, as of this writing but should be appearing soon. In the meantime, both the Presidio Grip and Presidio Stay Clear designs also currently have a $5 two-day shipping promotion running for a limited time. So there should be plenty of time for the case to arrive at a buyer’s address well ahead of their brand new Samsung phablet.
