Twitter Lite has just received a new update, and it has pushed the app to version 2.0. This application was originally released at the end of last year, as a lighter version of the original Twitter app, and since then, it has seen a few updates pushed its way, but not a single one of them was as significant as this one. In the official changelog, Twitter not only listed changes that have arrived with version 2.0, but has also mentioned that the Twitter Lite app is now available in 46 countries.
In the changelog, Twitter notes that the Twitter Lite app is made for both 2G and 3G networks, though you can, of course, use it with 4G networks as well. In this update, Twitter included push notifications, which were not available in the Lite app until now, while the Data Saver option has also been included. On top of that, the much-requested Night Mode is also included in v2.0, while you can also save images in this version of the Twitter Lite app. To top it all off, the company decided to offer Bookmarks to its users as well. Now, users of the company’s regular app, Twitter, such improvements may not be as exciting, as they have been available in that app for quite some time now, but they sure are interesting to those of you who are using Twitter Lite.
Twitter has created its Lite app with emerging markets in mind, and those places which don’t really have the best 3G or 4G signal, but the app has managed to become quite popular since its launch, and people all over the world started using it. That may actually be the reason why Twitter decided to expand the availability of this app so much. The app currently has over 1 million installs on the Google Play Store, and is holding a 4.1-star rating. If you do not have this app installed, and you’d like to try it out, a download link has been included down below.
