ZTE has just announced its new flagship at IFA 2018, the ZTE Axon 9 Pro. This handset blends in with the rest of 2018 flagship as far as the design is concerned, as it is made out of metal and glass, while it sports a display notch as well. This handset comes with ZTE’s all-new ‘Axon Vision’ technology, Qualcomm’s most powerful mobile processor, plenty of RAM, and a rather high-capacity battery (4,000mAh), among other things.
If you take a look at the device, you will notice that its notch is not exactly the smallest out there, but it’s not the largest one either. The device sports a ‘chin’ below the display, but other than that bezel, and its notch, bezels on this phone are quite thin. Both ZTE’s and Axon’s brandings are located on the back of this phone, along with a dual camera setup and an LED flash. You will notice that a fingerprint scanner is located on the back side of this phone, ZTE has decided not to incorporate an in-display fingerprint scanner in the ZTE Axon 9 Pro. Now, regarding ‘Axon Vision’, that we’ve mentioned earlier, ZTE defines it as a “unique graphics optimization technology that ensures unparalleled visual effects”. The ZTE Axon 9 Pro also supports HDR10 video playback, while the company did its best to make the Axon 9 Pro’s display as accurate as possible.
The ZTE Axon 9 Pro features a 6.21-inch fullHD+ (2248 x 1080) AMOLED display with a 2.5D curved glass on top of it, while 3D tempered glass is included on the back of the device. Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 845 64-bit octa-core processor fuels the ZTE Axon 9 Pro, while the device packs in 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. The ZTE Axon 9 Pro is IP68 certified, for water and dust resistance, while Android 8.1 Oreo comes pre-installed on this smartphone. Dolby Atmos stereo speakers are included in this phone as well, while the device supports surround sound recording with its three microphones. 12-megapixel (1.4um pixel size, f/1.75 aperture, OIS) and 20-megapixel (130-degree wide-angle lens) cameras sit on the back of this phone, while a single 20-megapixel camera is included on the phone’s front side, and it can scan your face, as the phone supports Face Detection. Bluetooth 5.0 is included here as well, while the phone measures 156.5 x 74.5 x 7.9mm.
As far as the device’s availability is concerned, ZTE has announced that the Axon 9 Pro will become available in Germany at the end of September, and that it will cost €649 in that country. The company did not mention anything about the Axon 9 Pro’s availability in other countries, though, at least not yet.
