LG V40 ThinQ Flagship Certified With Band Support Details

A likely variant of the LG V40 ThinQ was spotted on the website of independent standards organization Global Certification Forum. The unit is identified by the model number LM-V405UA and marketing name “Storm Plus.” The GCF listing states that the likely LG V40 ThinQ will support 2G GSM, 3G UMTS, and CDMA2000. Furthermore, this variant of the device is compatible with 14 LTE-FDD bands and two TD-LTE bands. Among the supported frequencies are the majority of the LTE bands used by the four major U.S. carriers, although this specific model of the LG V40 ThinQ will not support the 600MHz band that T-Mobile is currently deploying across the United States, nor will it be compatible with the LTE band 14 that is used by AT&T’s FirstNet.

Recent rumors delivered a solid number of details about the design and specifications of the LG V40 ThinQ. Previous reports state that the Snapdragon 845 chipset will power the upcoming handset, in addition to mentioning 6GB of RAM and 64GB of flash storage with microSD card support. The device is expected to sport a 6.4-inch POLED display with a QHD+ resolution and an aspect ratio of 19.5:9. Furthermore, the newest member of the LG V series will likely include a 3.5mm headphone jack, a quad-DAC system, two stereo speakers, and DTS-X support. Recent rumors also indicate that the LG V40 ThinQ will have a horizontally arranged triple rear camera setup using a 12-megapixel sensor, a 16-megapixel module, and another 12-megapixel camera. Meanwhile, the dual front-facing camera of the device will likely be equipped with one 8-megapixel module and a 5-megapixel sensor.

Aside from the included rear fingerprint scanner, recent reports state that the LG V40 ThinQ will feature facial recognition support and a dedicated button for launching Google Assistant, much like the G7 ThinQ. The handset will reportedly ship with a custom implementation of Android 9 Pie. LG Electronics is expected to unveil its latest smartphone no later than the first week of October, with the handset being likely to feature a price tag north of $700.
