The vast majority of Android smartphones comes with a pre-installed file manager, though those file managers are usually either too basic, or don’t look as good as you’d hope they will. Solid Explorer
Solid Explorer is an app that appeared a couple of years ago, and thanks to its design and functionality, it managed to become one of the most popular file manager applications out there. This app brings a really nice-looking UI, and a ton of features. Solid Manager actually allows you to drag and drop files or folders, while it has integration with a ton of cloud services out there. Do keep in mind that this is a 14-day trial, however, if you’d like to continue using Solid Explorer, you’ll have to pay up (one time fee).
ES File Explorer
ES File Explorer has been around for a long time now, and it’s one of the most popular file managers out there, if not the most popular one. This app counts over 100 million downloads from the Play Store, and it comes with built-in support for ZIP and RAR file types. ES File Manager also offers Remote File Access, while it can function as an FTP and WebDAV client, and those are only some of its features.
MK Explorer
MK Explorer features Material Design UI, while it has all the regular features you’d expect out of a file manager, including delete, copy, paste, and move options. This app also supports two windows / panels to view files, while you can create shortcuts on your desktop directly from the app, and that is not a feature that many file managers have. This app also comes with a built-in text editor, gallery, and a music player, and supports 20 languages.
Astro File Browser
Astro File Browser has over 50 million downloads in the Google Play Store, and this app is completely ad-free. Astro File Manager comes with support for ZIP files as well, and its UI is based on Google’s Material Design guidelines. This app comes with SD card manager and cloud manager, while you can backup photos and files using the app as well. A media player is built in as well, and it allows you to open photos, images, and play music and videos.
FX File Explorer
FX File Explorer comes with no ads, but it offers in-app purchases, and this is a lite version of the app, there is a paid version which offers all the features. This app comes with multi-window support, and it has a dual-view option within the app as well. It has a specialized ‘Usage View’, which allows you to see the total size and content makeup of every folder, as you browse and manage files.
ASUS’ File Manager
ASUS’ File Manager is also available in the Play Store, and it’s actually quite compelling. This file manager does come with ads, though, so keep that in mind. Along with all the regular file manager features that are included here, this file manager allows you to manage files within your LAN and SMB networks. ASUS’ File Manager also comes with cloud support, and a storage analyzer.
File Manager
This file manager is simply called ‘File Manager’, and it comes from ‘Flashlight + Clock’ company. That may sound odd, but this file manager is actually quite capable, and quite popular as well. It has a really simple, easy to understand UI, while it supports both cloud storage options, and remote control options as well. Storage analysis tool is included here as well, and you can access this file manager from your PC once you set everything up.
File Manager Pro
File Manager Pro is one of the best-looking file manager apps out there, it combines flat design with some other elements, though keep in mind that this is a paid app. This app allows you to browse your files by category, while it has the storage analysis tool. File Manager Pro comes with support for LAN, cloud storage, and it also supports ZIP files. This app packs in a ton more features and tools, it’s one of the most robust file manager apps out there.
Simple File Manager
Simple File Manager, as its name says, tries to keep things simple. This app has a really simple design, which is inspired by Google’s Material Design, and it comes with all the basic file manager options, you can rename, copy, move, delete, and share anything you want, while it has some security options as well. This app is also customizable to a degree, and it will be more than enough for most users.
File Manager (MCSL)
This app is called simply ‘File Manager’, just like another one we’ve talked about, and it comes from a company called ‘Mobile Clean System Lab’. The design of this app is really ‘clean’, while the app itself supports 19 languages. You can search all of your files using this application, while it supports SMB file sharing as well. Themes are available for this file manager, while the app is customizable as well.
