Vivo has taken the wraps off of a new AI-powered member of its V-Series today, the Vivo V11. Placed squarely in the mid-range category, the V11 is set for launch internationally, beginning in Thailand and India. It will ship with a 6.41-inch ‘Halo FullView Display’ packed between bezels that measure just 1.76mm and a screen-to-body ratio of just 91.27-percent. The display itself is set at a resolution of 1080 x 2340 and an aspect ratio of 19.5:9. On the inside, the new handset packs in Qualcomm’s octa-core Snapdragon 660 AIE SoC, backed by a full 6GB of RAM and 128GB of expandable storage. Powered by powered by a 3,400mAh, charged via micro USB 2.0 and Vivo’s ‘Dual-Engine Fast Charging,’ that’s embedded in the display itself and all of that hardware is squeezed into a metal frame and coated in 3D glass. Overall, the Vivo V11 measures 157.91 x 75.08 x 7.9mm and weighs just 158 grams.
Resting just above the display, in a tiny ‘u’-shaped notch, the company has included a 25-megapixel selfie shooter with a f/2.0 aperture. That’s assisted by AI and includes infrared technology to assist a new feature called Face Access to read 1,024 facial feature points even in the dark. Artificial intelligence is a driving force behind the rear-facing primary camera sensors as well. The dual array features a 12-megapixel and 5-megapixel shooter with f/1.8 and f/2.4 apertures capturing images at 1.28μm pixels. Dual-Pixel Autofocus enables focusing in 0.03 seconds and both camera setups will arrive with a huge variety of features including AI-powered automatic scene detection, Backlight HDR, Low-Light mode, slow-motion capture, AR stickers, and Google Lens. Meanwhile, a fingerprint scanner is provided alongside Face Access and as with some prior Vivo handsets, resides under the display instead of being external.
The AI management throughout the device is part of Vivo’s Funtouch OS 4.5 – based on Android 8.1 Oreo. That utilizes the Snapdragon 660 AIE’s dedicated AI processor drive Vivo V11’s Jovi AI Engine and Jovi Smart Scene, which handles camera features and provide real-time weather, in addition to handling device efficiency and resource management. In addition to Wi-Fi and mobile connectivity, Bluetooth 5.0 is part of Vivo’s latest offering as well. Although the company hasn’t provided any further availability or pricing details, it will also be available in two color configurations, referred to as Starry Night and Nebula. The first bears darker tones fading into purple and blue hues while the latter is a brighter blue handset featuring a tonal shift toward a deep purple.
