In Short:Xiaomi’s Global Spokesperson and Director of Product Management, Donovan Sung, has confirmed that the company’s new flagship, the Mi 8 Pro, will become available on a global scale. On Twitter, Mr. Sung wrote the following in this Mi 8 Pro post: “Launching soon in our global markets across the world!”… as you can see, he did not say when or where can we expect the Mi 8 Pro to launch, but Xiaomi will probably release more info regarding that soon. The phone will probably become available in Europe, along with some other markets outside of Xiaomi’s homeland, including India, probably, as Xiaomi is quite active over there.
Background: The Xiaomi Mi 8 Pro is the all-new flagship smartphone that Xiaomi announced, and it’s very similar to the Mi 8 and Mi 8 Explorer Edition, but unlike those two phones, this device comes with a pressure-sensitive in-display fingerprint scanner. The Xiaomi Mi 8 Pro looks like the Mi 8 in every way, though, and it even comes in a variant with a transparent back, like the Mi 8 Explorer Edition. The device is made out of metal and glass, it sports a thin ‘chin’ below its display, while it comes with a display notch as well. The phone is fueled by the Snapdragon 845 64-bit octa-core processor, while it was announced in both 6GB and 8GB RAM variants. The Mi 8 Pro features a 6.21-inch fullHD+ (2248 x 1080) AMOLED display, while Android 8.1 Oreo comes pre-installed on the device, along with Xiaomi’s MIUI skin. Two 12-megapixel cameras are included on the back of this phone, while a 3,000mAh battery comes with the phone as well, and it supports Quick Charge 4+ fast charging.
Impact: The Xiaomi Mi 8 Pro is one of flagship phones Xiaomi released in 2018, and one more is expected to arrive later this year, the Mi MIX 3. The Mi MIX 3 will sport a sliding mechanism for its front-facing camera, and incredibly thin bezels, but it will be as powerful as the Mi 8 Pro as far as performance is concerned. If you’re looking for the latest and greatest from Xiaomi, the Mi 8 Pro is definitely the phone to get, and it will hopefully not be much more expensive in global markets once it becomes available.
