In Short: Interband has released its ‘Best Global Brands’ list for 2018, and not surprisingly, Apple is at the very top of that list. Interband notes that Apple grew 16-percent compared to last year. Google and Amazon are second and third-placed companies on the list, and those two companies grew 10 and 56-percent. Amazon’s growth compared to last year is stellar, and it remains to be seen what will happen next year. Microsoft is the fourth-placed company on the list, while Coca-Cola is fifth. Interestingly enough, Coca-Cola is the only top 5 brand that lost on value compared to a year before, as it marks a 5-percent decline, according to Interbrand. Samsung is the sixth-placed company, while it is followed by Toyota, Mercedes, Facebook and McDonalds, which complete the top 10 list.
Background: Samsung had announced yesterday that it managed to remain sixth-placed on this list, which is the same spot the company occupied a year ago, and also the highest it was able to climb, ever. There are 100 companies listed by Interband, but we talked about the first 10 only, if you’d like to see a full list that the company announced, you can do that by following this link. That being said, it is also worth noting that Huawei occupies 68th place on this list, while Sony is a bit above Huawei, on 59th place. There are a ton of other companies listed by Interbrand, so check out the full list if you’re interested.
Impact: Amazon grew quite a bit in the last year, and that only strengthened its brand. The company is still growing, and it will be interesting to see where will it stand next year. It will be really hard for Amazon to catch up to Google and Apple, though, but we’ll see what will happen, anything is possible, of course.
