ASUS ROG Phone Priced At $899 In The US, Launching Oct. 18

In Short:ASUS has just released more info regarding the ROG Phone’s availability in the US. The company has announced that its gaming smartphone will become available for pre-order on October 18 in the US, and it will be launched at the Microsoft Store on Fifth Avenue in New York City. The phone will be available for pre-order from the ASUS Store, Amazon, and Microsoft, in addition to being available in-store during the launch event as well. The ASUS ROG Phone will set you back $899 in the US, if you’re planning to get it, and the company has also announced that the full range of accessories available for the device will go on sale in the fourth quarter of this year. These accessories include the Mobile Desktop Dock ($229.99), TwinView Dock ($399.99), Gamevice Controller ($89.99), WiGig Dock ($329.99), ASUS Professional Dock ($199.99), and the ROG Phone Case ($59.99).

The Mobile Desktop Dock will basically allow you to connect ROG Phone to an external 4K UHD monitor, mouse, and keyboard, for a better gaming experience. The TwinView Dock will turn the device into a powerful dual-screen console, says the company. The Gamevice Controller packs dual analog joysticks, left and right fire triggers and bumpers, a D-pad, and A, B, X, Y, L3, and R3 buttons. The ASUS Professional Dock will let you connect your smartphone to a big-screen TV or monitor, and it comes with a network port as well. The ROG Phone Case is supposed to protect the phone from scratches, knocks, and bumps, as most cases out there.

Background: ASUS had announced about a week ago that the ROG Phone will hit the US on October 18, but the company did not really share more info about it back then, though ASUS made up for it today. The ROG Phone was introduced back in June, and even though it has been four months since its announcement, the device is still not available for purchase. The ROG Phone is ASUS’ very first gaming smartphone, and it comes with a 6-inch fullHD+ AMOLED display, 8GB o RAM, and stereo speakers. The device is also equipped with a 4,000mAh battery, and it will ship with Android 8.1 Oreo.

Impact: The ASUS ROG Phone is one of the few gaming smartphones out there, well, at least mainstream gaming smartphones that come with one of the most powerful mobile chips. Razer is planning to announce its second-gen Razer Phone soon, and that device will compete with the ASUS ROG Phone directly.
