DuckDuckGo Android Browser Is All About Privacy & Simplicity

If you’re concerned about privacy while surfing various websites, you may want to try the DuckDuckGo browser. Now, if that name sounds familiar to you, then it’s probably because you’ve heard of a web search service called ‘DuckDuckGo’, and we’ve actually talked about it quite recently. DuckDuckGo is basically a competitor to Google Search, but a less-known one. Even though this service is constantly growing, it’s only a blip on Google’s radar, but unlike Google, it bases its ads on what you’re searching for, not on a number of other parameters based on the data that it collects from users who use the service. DuckDuckGo boasts about its user privacy-based operation, and if you’d like to try out the company’s browser as well, it is available in the Play Store, and it’s completely free, while ads are not a part of the experience as well, nor are in-app purchases.

The DuckDuckGo browser has been available via the Play Store for quite some time, and even though there’s still room for improvement in the features department, the app itself works really well. This app has been downloaded over one million times thus far, and it’s currently holding a 4.4-star rating in the Play Store. The design of this browser is up to standard, though it doesn’t have as many features as some other browsers out there. You cannot move this browser’s navigation tray to the bottom, for example, while a number of other options are not included… but the company has been rolling out improvements constantly, and has also promised a number of new features are on the way. The main selling point of this app is its privacy-oriented philosophy, as already mentioned. The DuckDuckGo browser will block all the hidden third-party trackers it can find, at least the company says so. On top of that, the DuckDuckGo browser forces sites to use an encrypted connection where available, while DuckDuckGo will not track you, ever, that is something the company promises through all of its services.

This app can be used for accessing a list of tabs you’ve opened, much like any other (mobile) browser, though the layout here is a bit different. You will not see rather large website cards that you can swipe away or scroll through, but short, wide cards that you can choose from. You can, of course, close those cards, but you cannot close them by swiping them away – you’ll need to use a more traditional approach for getting rid of them. The company also included the so-called ‘Fire Button’ in its browser which allows you to clean all your tabs and data with one tap, while it is always accessible, as it sits between the search field and the tab list button. The DuckDuckGo browser is only 10MB in size, and you’ll need Android 5.0+ in order to run it, if you’re interested, hit the Google Play Store button down below which will take you directly to the app’s listing.
