Screenshots of Samsung’s proprietary skin for the Samsung Galaxy Note 9, known as the Samsung Experience 10, has appeared online. Even though screenshots of the software build based on Android 9 Pie were already leaked last month, these new images provide additional information on features specific to the Galaxy Note 9. For example, the S-Pen settings now utilize a black background with white cards for specific toggles and options. Moreover, the Samsung Notes app also gets a new icon and user interface, although it seems that there are no new features added to the application.
Samsung Experience 10 also introduces a dark transparent theme for the notification shade and quick settings, which could result in improved battery life for devices with AMOLED screens. The launcher now has larger app icons while the recent apps overview now sports a horizontally scrolling design. Like the S-Pen settings, the device settings and the Messages app are both getting a card-based user interface with white cards and a black background, although the new Night Theme will change the color of the cards from white to gray. Samsung also redesigned the camera app, with the different camera modes now contained in a scrolling bar at the bottom. Meanwhile, the AR Emojis and the Bixby Vision are now found at the top of the app’s user interface. Recent leaks of the Samsung Experience 10 also shows that Samsung devices may soon get native gesture-based navigation. Swiping up from the left will return the user to the previous screen, swiping up from the right will bring up the recent apps overview, and swiping up from the right will bring up the home screen.
Aside from features specific to Samsung devices, this software build will likely bring new functionalities that come with the latest version of the Android operating system. These features may include redesigned media controls, adaptive brightness, and adaptive battery. The latter two features utilize artificial intelligence to improve the battery life of the device by reducing the resources allocated to rarely used apps and more accurately determining the appropriate display brightness. At this point, there is no information available on when Samsung will start rolling out the software update to the Galaxy Note 9.
