Several CAD renders of the upcoming Moto G7 have been leaked by MySmartPrice and known industry insider Steve H., better known by his Twitter handle @OnLeaks. These renders not only reaffirm what previous leaks had revealed but also provide new pieces of information about the phone’s design. A waterdrop-style notch placed on the front points at an increased display aspect ratio when compared to Moto G6’s 18:9. With the inclusion of a smaller display cutout, the sensors and the earpiece have seemingly been moved further up toward the phone’s edge, although a marginally thick top bezel has been retained. An even thicker bezel is placed on the bottom that houses the Motorola branding and the primary microphone.
Motorola introduced the glass sandwich design to its mid-tier Moto G series earlier this year with the launch of the Moto G6 and its follow-up also appears to embrace the same design choice. The curved glass back of the Moto G7 will feature a pair of cameras inside a circular housing along with a fingerprint scanner positioned underneath it. As per this leak, the mid-range handset will continue sporting a 3.5mm headphone jack, unlike the recent trend of ditching it. The analog connector will be placed at the bottom alongside a USB Type-C port and a speaker grill. In addition to this, the unannounced smartphone is said to measure 157 x 75.3 x 8mm, with the camera bump adding an extra 1.5mm of thickness, and include a 6-inch display panel in this report. Notably, the renders shared in today’s leak have a lot of resemblance to a couple of Mot G7’s alleged real-life images that had leaked last August.
The Lenovo subsidiary is rumored to announce a total of four Moto G7-series devices – the Moto G7, Moto G7 Play, Moto G7 Plus, and the Moto G7 Power – where the Power-branded model is the new entrant. A recent report suggested that the Moto G7 will sport a much larger 6.4-inch FHD+ display which contradicts the information shared in today’s leak. The handset is expected to boast 4GB of RAM and 64GB of expandable storage at least on one of its variants along with a pair of rear-placed cameras. It is rumored to get a 3,500mAh battery and will come pre-installed with Android 9 Pie out of the box. The Moto G7 isn’t expected to be out until early next year and an exact release date should be known in the coming months.
