In Short: The OnePlus 6T will become available starting on November 6, the company has confirmed to The Verge. That is pretty much all the new info that has been made available, as the phone’s unveiling date was announced yesterday by OnePlus, and for those of you who have missed that, the OnePlus 6T will be announced in New York, on October 30, and the company is already selling tickets for the launch event.
Background: OnePlus had announced yesterday that the New York event will be live streamed, as was the OnePlus 6’s announcement earlier this year. That being said, the OnePlus 6T will bring some new tech to the table, and a more appealing design as well, but the device will remain more or less the same on the inside. The OnePlus 6T will ship with an in-display fingerprint scanner, instead of a rear-facing one that is included on the OnePlus 6. The OnePlus 6T will also sport a much smaller notch compared to the OnePlus 6, and thus be more appealing in the design sense. The device will, however, equip the same processor as the OnePlus 6, the Snapdragon 845, while chances are it will ship in same RAM variants as well, with 6GB and 8GB of RAM. Android 9 Pie will come pre-installed on the phone, quite probably, while you will be able to find two cameras on the back of the OnePlus 6T. A larger battery will sit on the inside on the OnePlus 6T, compared to the OnePlus 6, while a 3.5mm headphone jack will not be a part of the offering.
Impact: The OnePlus 6T will be more or less an iterative update over the OnePlus 6, which is not all that surprising considering that it’s getting released only five months after the OnePlus 6. Still, it will be a solid upgrade for those users who did not purchase the OnePlus 6, or those that really need to have a fingerprint scanner, and / or hate the OnePlus 6’s notch.
