If you’re eagerly awaiting for the Android 9 Pie to land on your Galaxy-branded handset, well, some new screenshots of Samsung’s Android 9 Pie-branded Samsung Experience 10 UI have just surfaced. These images were pulled from Samsung Experience 10 beta build for the Galaxy S9+, it seems, and this is not the first time we’re seeing this UI, as it did surface a while back, but this leak does share more screens and along with that info about the update. These screens were pulled from the G965USQU3ZRJ7 beta build, and this UI has clearly been tweaked to fit better with Android 9 Pie, even though it’s not exactly entirely stock-looking, of course. The new font Samsung is using is reminiscent of Google’s Product Sans font, and the UI is rounder in general, from the toggles in the notification shade, to elements in Samsung’s dialer. Same can be said for Samsung’s Messages app, and the Overview screen actually looks quite similar to the one on stock Android 9 Pie build. In the gallery down below, you can also check out Samsung’s very own gesture navigation system, which will create three swipe hotspots on the bottom of the display, which will act as overview, home, and back buttons. The company’s navigation system will be optional, though, you will still be able to use on-screen buttons if you prefer. The UI in general looks much cleaner than before, even though Samsung Experience 9 looks nice as well, and it was a considerable improvement over Samsung’s Nougat-based UI. Background: Samsung has been working on Android 9 Pie-based Samsung Experience 10 update for quite some time now, and even though some users expected this update to start rolling out to Samsung’s flagships by now, that has not happened just yet. The company did not share any info regarding as to when will that happen, but the update is coming soon, and chances are that the Galaxy S9, S9+, and Note9 will get it first.
Impact: Samsung is well-known for stepping away from stock Android with its UI, and that will be the case with Samsung Experience 10 as well, but to a noticeably smaller degree. Samsung Experience 10 is quite probably the most similar to stock Android build than any other Samsung-made UI to date, and that will probably be a good thing or most of you, though it’s all a matter of preference. We’re still unsure whether Google’s very own Android 9 Pie navigation system will be included in Samsung Experience 10, but chances are it will not, instead, you’ll be able to choose between on-screen buttons and Samsung’s navigation system, which seems to be rather functional, at least based on what we’ve seen thus far. The company is expected to start releasing this update to unlocked Galaxy S9, S9+, and Note9 units in a month or two, though as already mentioned, the company did not specify when exactly, so all we can do at this point is to guess.
