In Short:Samsung has updated its Samsung Music application with a new design, while Spotify recommendations are now available within the app as well. Now, Spotify recommendations will be provided to you via the ‘Spotify’ tab that is now included in the app itself. Samsung has changed the design quite a bit, and will let you rely on tabs now, which is arguably a good decision, as it will allow you to swipe through favorites, playlists, tracks, albums, and more. The company has also added a ‘sort’ option, just in case you’d like to sort your tracks in a specific way. The ‘crossfade’ feature has also been added, which means that the music will fade away slowly once you shut down the player, it will not be cut off. It is worth noting that the Spotify tab doesn’t link Samsung Music and Spotify, while this tab will not be available to everyone, if Spotify is not available in your country, you will not see that tab in the Samsung Music app.
Background: Samsung Music app has been available in the Play Store for a long time now, though it’s not available to every device from the Play Store, not even close, but if you own a modern Samsung smartphone, you’ll be able to download it without a problem, the company even mentions that the app is compatible with Samsung smartphones in the Play Store listing. The app has been reviewed over 260,000 times in the Play Store, and is currently holding a 4.2-star rating, while it has been downloaded over 100 million times (pre-installs are included in that number as well). That being said, the fact that Samsung included Spotify tab in Samsung Music is not a surprise at all, as the company partnered up with Spotify recently, the company mentioned it during the Galaxy Note 9 event.
Impact: Samsung Music is a go-to music application for a number of Samsung smartphone users, and this update will probably be welcomed by quite a few of them. It’s arguably much easier to navigate the app’s content now, as everything is a swipe or two away. If you’d like to update the app, a link has been included down below.
