If you’re looking for a new app that will allow you to write a diary / journal, or simply keep track of what you were doing at some point, and your mood at the time… well, a new app called ‘Stories’ may be just right for you. This application has been launched in the Play Store quite recently, and the app comes with a rather nice-looking UI, presuming you like Google’s Material Design, of course. The app’s design is clean, and everything is at hand thanks to well-placed functions inside of the app. In order to insert a new entry in this diary / journal, all you have to do is hit the ‘+’ button that is located in the lower-right portion of the display. From the pop-up menu, you can choose a regular, text entry, in addition to what-I’m-currently-doing entry from a number of offered choices. On top of that, a location-based entry is also available, as is an image-based entry. Next to all those journal entries, you can insert your comments as well, of course. Those four entry styles are officially called: Thoughts, Activity, Place, and Media.
Now, the thing is, Stories app will show you your journal entry in a chronological fashion, in a timeline of sorts, which reminds us of feed on social media networks, but it looks even sleeker than most of those. The app also comes with mentions (@) and hashtags (#) support, while you can further customize the looks of the app if you want, not to mention that a dark theme is also enabled, while you can also set the app to choose between light and dark themes based on the time of day. You can organize your entries in this app in form of books, if you want, in order to group them better. This application also comes with support for a PIN lock and fingerprint scanning, so that you can protect your info, which can be quite important if you suspect prying eyes may come looking. It is also worth noting that ads are not a part of the experience, the same goes for in-app purchases, at least for now.
Background: The ‘Stories’ app currently has 34 reviews in the Play Store, and is holding a 4.4-star rating overall. The app has been download over 10,000 times at this point, while it’s currently in version 1.0.1. The app weighs only 11MB, and you will need Android 5.0+ in order to run this application. This app comes from a developer called ‘Hadi Satrio’, and it’s the only application from the developer that is available in the Play Store, while we don’t have much info about the developer itself.
Impact: There are quite a few diary / journal applications out there, but ‘Stories’ is a bit different. The layout of the main feed in this app feels right, it will let you know exactly what happened at some point in time in a very nice way, the timeline view makes sense for a diary, even though many other applications opt for a different layout. Stories app will help you keep all your thoughts in one place, and in our testing, the app worked just fine, even though this app is still quite young and the developer will try to polish it even more. If you’d like to try out ‘Stories’, a download link is included down below, as are some screenshots for you to take a look at.
