In short: Tile has just announced that it is refreshing its Mate and Pro trackers, which include longer range, replaceable batteries, and louder sound. These were all heavily requested by its customers, and now it’s available in the next-generation of its trackers. The Tile Mate now has a range of about 150-feet or 45-meters, while the Tile Pro has a range of 300-feet or about 90-meters. The battery is replaceable as mentioned, but it should still last at least 12 months, so you won’t need to replace these all that often.
Tile also announced ‘Tile Premium’ today, which is a new service from the company. It gives customer added convenience, and offers a slew of features including free battery replacements, Smart Alerts, Unlimited Sharing, Location History, Extended Warranty, and Premium Customer Care. The free battery replacements is definitely worthwhile, seeing as Tile now has replaceable batteries in the new Mate and Pro trackers. Tile will automatically send out new batteries just before the one-year mark after purchasing the tracker, so you will never run out of battery. Smart Alerts is another popular feature here, and it’s something that just about every company is adding these days. This can be used to notify you when you’ve left a Tile at home. Perhaps you have Tile on your keychain or in your wallet, your phone will notify you that you left one (or both) at home.
Background: Tile has been a pretty popular product for a few years now, particularly because it makes it easy to find things you may have lost. This is because Tile allows you to use your phone to find out where that product is. So if it’s your keys that you’ve left behind, you can open the app and have the Tile begin to ring, so you can find where you put them. And now Tile is getting even better with the new Mate and Pro trackers, as well as the Premium subscription service.
Impact: Tile Mate and Tile Pro is available today for $25 and $35 respectively. There’s no word on whether Tile will be doing multi-packs of these trackers just yet. The Tile Mate is available in white only, and the Tile Pro is available in black/gray only. The Tile Premium service will cost $3 per month, or you can sign up for a $30 per year subscription and save some extra bucks. Tile Premium is not yet available for Android users, that will be coming later this week. But you can still sign up through the website or through the iOS app.
