OnePlus 6T Now Available To Purchase From T-Mobile

After being announced on Monday, the OnePlus 6T is now available to purchase from T-Mobile. It is available both online and in-store, so you can head to your local T-Mobile store and either check out the OnePlus 6T or purchase one (or both!). T-Mobile is still offering that pretty insane trade-in deal on the OnePlus 6T as well. Allowing you to trade in your current device and get $300 towards the OnePlus 6T. There is a list of over 30 devices that will net you the $300 off, and it’s not “up to $300” it’s a straight $300 off of the OnePlus 6T. Though this is through monthly bill credits for the next 24 months. So you will get the OnePlus 6T for just $280, but that is only if you stick with T-Mobile for two years.

As mentioned this is $579.99, so it is not the entry-level model but the mid-range model from OnePlus. That version includes 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. Unfortunately, T-Mobile is not selling the lower-end of the higher-end models, which is not a huge surprise. Carriers do typically only stock one version of a phone, as it’s easier to deal with, and most people only want one version of the phone anyways. If you want the 6GB/128GB or the 8GB/256GB model, you will need to purchase it from OnePlus – and it can still be used on T-Mobile. Otherwise, the specs for the OnePlus 6T include a 6.41-inch full HD+ OLED display, with a resolution of 2340×1080. That means that it is a 19:9 aspect ratio here, and there is a notch. Though OnePlus was able to make the notch smaller, so it’s more of a tear-drop notch, like what OPPO has been using. It’s powered by the Snapdragon 845 chipset of course, with 6GB or 8GB of RAM and 128GB or 256GB of storage. It is also powered by a massive 3700mAh capacity battery, a huge increase from the 3300mAh capacity in the OnePlus 6. On the back, there are two cameras, a 16-megapixel sensor and then a 20-megapixel sensor. The front houses a 16-megapixel sensor for taking selfies. OnePlus has put the fingerprint sensor underneath the display this time around, so you can just put your finger on the display to unlock your phone. Of course, Face Unlock is still here as well. Finally, OnePlus did ditch the headphone jack in the 6T here.

Background: This marks the first time that OnePlus has sold any of its phones through a carrier, and picking the Un-carrier was a pretty good choice for OnePlus. T-Mobile has been marketing the OnePlus 6T pretty heavily, and even had a pretty long line at its Times Square store the day it was announced, for the OnePlus 6T. On top of that, the massive trade-in deal that it is doing for the OnePlus 6T is going to be a big hit for OnePlus, and help them sell a ton of other devices. It’s good for T-Mobile, as it has the exclusive on the OnePlus 6T, a smartphone from a brand that is slowly but surely becoming very popular in the US. Largely for offering up unlocked smartphones with high-end specs, at a low price.

For OnePlus, this is also a pretty big deal. In the US, it has really only sold its smartphones via its website. It did sell some phones via Amazon for a short while, but that died off a few years ago. So opening up to other retail channels is a good thing for OnePlus. It means that it can get the phone into even more hands in the US. T-Mobile is also able to offer a few things that OnePlus cannot, when it comes to purchasing the new phone. T-Mobile offers installment plans for the OnePlus 6T (and other phones) so that users can get the phone today and pay nothing down. It also offers a trade-in program, which OnePlus doesn’t (likely because it is a much smaller company, and just can’t handle that yet). Those two factors right there are going to massively help OnePlus move many more models of the 6T in the US. And like it would be for any new smartphone maker entering the US, it’s a big deal.

Impact: The OnePlus 6T is actually the biggest updated in the “T” models in quite some time. The “T” model is usually a pretty small upgrade, mostly with more RAM, storage, maybe a new screen size, etc. But this year, OnePlus made a lot more changes. This includes giving people even more screen real estate thanks to the smaller notch. Putting the fingerprint sensor under the display, as well as upping the battery capacity by a pretty large margin. The battery capacity bump is actually a really big deal. OnePlus has used a 3300mAh capacity battery  for quite a few years. And now bumping that battery pack by about 12-percent, that’s definitely something that users are going to appreciate. Though there is one change that users are not too happy about, and that is the removal of the headphone jack. Companies always say that this was so that they could add room for more battery capacity, and other components, but many customers don’t believe them. But the 12-percent jump in battery is definitely nice.

If you are looking to purchase the OnePlus 6T, you can do so by hitting the link down below. It is available at T-Mobile as well as OnePlus. If you are not a T-Mobile customer, you can still pick it up at OnePlus’ website and also use it on your favorite carrier. It is now certified for use on Verizon, so if you are a Verizon customer, you can simply pop in your Verizon SIM card and be on your way with the new OnePlus 6T, which is another big change this year, considering it had only been available for use on AT&T and T-Mobile in the past, due to the fact that it did not need certification on either carrier for its smartphones to work on those carriers.
